December found the Fulton K-Kids busy with their largest service project of the year: a food drive to benefit the East End Cooperative Ministries. On December 7, the group gathered in the library to decorate a collection box for each room, then delivered them to the classrooms.

From December 8 through December 17, students from preschool through fifth grade brought in non-perishable items to their homerooms, and placed them in the boxes. At several times during the drive, K-Kids went to the homerooms during their recess period, gathered and counted the items, and delivered them to a table in front of the school office. Mrs. Mullen, the club sponsor, kept track of the number of items donated by grade level on a chart outside of the library where all students could see it on their way to class.

At the end of the drive, Fulton students and staff had donated nearly 900 food items. Representatives from the food bank brought their truck to the school on December 18, and students bagged the items and carried them to the truck. The fourth grade collected the most items and earned a pizza party that was held on December 22.
